Cloud cover will thin out this morning into the afternoon, allowing for sunshine and above normal temperatures. This will be brief, as coverage returns tonight and so do showers & storms. A few of which could be strong in the late hours/early hours of the day (3am-7am timeframe Friday). Have a way to receive alerts if issued, this is a challenging time to take action from any severe storms. A later upper level disturbance will bring isolated to scattered rain chances Saturday night into Sunday, before drier air finds us to start off the new work week. A few isolated showers or sprinkles this morning, otherwise hanging mostly dry for the day and warm. Highs to peak in the low to mid 80s, well above average for this time of the year. Moving forward, a series of disturbances will look to bring showers or storms to the area, with the first batch arriving late tonight into Wednesday and again late Thursday through Friday. Scattered showers will remain possible at times this weekend. Check out our video forecast below for more. Pre-recorded for 5pm weather broadcast

Several rounds of showers & storms expected over the next 24 to 48 hours. Up first is the on-going activity this morning, with additional showers & storms finding us into tonight. A strong area of low pressure will press through the Lower Mississippi Valley, before marching north tonight into tomorrow. This will bring a revamp of showers & storms tonight, with another wave of moisture midday tomorrow. All activity should end by Friday morning, setting up sunny skies and warming temperatures this weekend. A few strong storms can't be ruled out tonight through Thursday, with damaging wind gusts the primary threat and an isolated area of spin-up the secondary (and lesser) threat.
