Over the past couple of months, gradual improvement has been seen across the western half of the state. The same can again be said this week as well, with only slight indications of dry conditions across mainly the southwest. Moving forward, we could see this revert back to increasing dry conditions given the lack of rainfall forecast over the next week or so. Moving to the Tropics, Tropical Storm Fiona has spun up. She is expected to shift west with time, crossing into Puerto Rico late Saturday, and then finding the Dominican Sunday, before shifting eastward. There is some indication this will ride along the east coast next week, but time will paint the better picture. For now, no direct threat to the USA, but the Caribbean will see heavy rain, gusty winds, and storm surge through the weekend. In terms of the local forecast, high pressure and upper level ridging remains in place through the next several days. As a result, temperatures will soar back to the typical Summer time heat we have (but haven't) been missing. Highs will find the 90s by mid week (this next week), with temperatures across the Central Plains 20+ degrees above the typical average. This will also suppress any shower potential through at least early next week, with guidance suggesting little to no rainfall for the whole week possible. For now, enjoy the fair temperatures before things continue to warm this weekend and into next week. Highs will generally average the mid to near upper 80s Saturday and Sunday, with mostly sunny skies. Afternoon cumulus will be common most days, dissipating into the night. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Send us a few shots if you head out, which can be sent via email SecretCityWx@aol.com or through Twitter or Facebook @SecretCityWx

Another cool and crisp morning for East Tennessee, as 7 AM temperatures range from the low to upper 50s. As with low temperatures, high temperatures will continue trending warmer each day. By weekends end, highs will top out in the mid and upper 80s (above average). For today though, beautiful once again. Mostly sunny skies above, with highs in the low to mid 80s. After the Topics allowed for a few hurricanes to form last week, we have quieted down a bit. With that said, there are still two disturbances worth watching, but chances for any formation over the next couple of days is low. That will do it for hump day, don't forget to follow us on social media and check out our video forecast below for more information. The main trends over the next week will be the gradual increasing temperatures each day. Pre-recorded for 5pm weather broadcast
Good morning and I hope you are staying warm! After weeks of nights in the upper 60s to low 70s, we finally got our big break. With the aid of a sweeping cold front and nudging high pressure, temperatures this morning are in the low to mid 50s (as of 7 AM). Some areas even found the upper 40s into this morning! Comparing this with yesterday morning, we are 10+ degrees cooler. This trend will continue again tonight, before gradually warming temperatures make for a return to lows in the 60s after Wednesday. All in all, a gorgeous week remains on tap. High pressure will sit across the region, leading to plentiful sunshine and dry conditions. Warming temperatures will be the primary trend, as highs top out in the mid 80s by the end of the work week (Friday) and into the weekend. Take advantage! That is all for today, after waves of showers and storms in recent weeks, we'll take pleasant, Fall-like, conditions early this week. Patchy fog and some light remnant showers to begin the day, otherwise clearing skies for the remainder. Highs will be MUCH cooler, topping out in the 70s. It's going to be a gorgeous one today, and really the next few days. Take advantage of the Fall-feel, before temperatures work back up into the mid and upper 80s late work week. Activity has really picked up in the Tropics, with hurricane Danielle in the north, Tropical Storm Earl (for now) in the west and two disturbances along/off the coast of Africa. Earl is expected to push north, increasing in strength to potentially a major hurricane (category 3 or greater). Fortunately, no impacts across the USA are expected over the next several days. Back to the local forecast, isolated to scattered showers/storms will be possible today. An upper level disturbance continues to slowly work through the area, bringing the opportunity this afternoon and again tomorrow. By Thursday, high pressure fills in to our north, keeping most of the area dry. Another area of low pressure and approaching cold front will then bring shower chances back to the area later Friday and throughout the weekend. In terms of rainfall amounts over the next 7 days, 1 to 2 inches can be expected. Locally higher amounts will of course be possible within thunderstorms, but in general, a soaking rain is expected through the next week. Thereafter, data shows a needed drier pattern, where temperatures will also warm up to be above average. That will round out the forecast for today, be sure to check back in tomorrow as well! High pressure shifts east today, allowing for moisture to increase out of the south. As it does so, a few isolated showers and storms could pop up this afternoon. A slow moving frontal boundary will then approach Saturday and throughout the holiday weekend, bringing widespread showers and storms each day. Some could bring heavy rainfall rates, leading to isolated flash flooding. The best chances for this will be Sunday and Labor Day (Monday). Check out our video forecast below for more on the forecast as well as an update on the Tropics and latest drought map. Pre-recorded for 5pm weather broadcast
