Good afternoon! Cloud cover has socked us in today, as a disturbance passes by just south. Most will stay precipitation-free, but a few isolated showers/sprinkles or flurries are possible in the far southeast and high Smokies terrain. Coverage will clear out into Thursday, allowing for sunshine by the early afternoon. Unfortunately, temperatures will remain chilly as a dry cold front passes through tonight. Highs will stay near those of today, topping out in the mid 40s range. Thereafter, a dynamic system will impact the Tennessee and Ohio Valley. Initially, a wintry mix of rain/snow or freezing rain is possible. Probabilities are low but not zero for freezing rain greater than 0.01" Friday night into early Saturday morning. As such, be weary for slick spots on the usual cooler spots (bridges, overpasses, elevated areas, etc.). Most should expect rain to a few wet flakes late Friday night (it's a complicated and low-probability forecast), before all rain is expected by mid-morning Saturday. Another brief rain/snow mix is possible at the tail-end of the system Saturday night. For the Smokies, we could be looking at significant snowfall. Elevations above the 3,000 foot mark and especially higher could see several inches of the white stuff Friday into Saturday, which will likely result in some road closures for the National Park folks. We will clear back out slowly by Sunday, with plenty of sunshine to start off the new work week Monday. Temperatures will also trend warmer early next week, as a strong system looks to target the region into Tuesday.
