Good afternoon! I hope you enjoyed the extra long weekend. As we swing back into things, showers & storms will remain possible each and every day. Specifically, during the afternoon to early evening time period. The surface map (below) depicts a frontal boundary well to our north. This will dip southward tonight, bringing a better opportunity for strong to severe storms to develop tomorrow afternoon. Both the SPC and WPC highlight the chance for hazards. First, the Storm Prediction Center portioned off part of East Tennessee with a slight risk of severe storms, while the remainder sits in a Marginal. The main threats tomorrow will be damaging wind gusts, but instances of large hail in stronger storms will also be possible. Keep in mind this activity as a whole will be very scattered (or hit and miss). In addition to the severe threat, isolated instances of flash flooding is also possible, as suggested by the Marginal risk from the Weather Prediction Center. Lastly, it is Summer so you can expect warm and muggy conditions. As seen from this single model below, heat indices will range between 100 and 105 tomorrow and Thursday afternoon. Keep cool, hydrated, and safe both from the heat and the storm potential! Overall, today will be partly cloudy with isolated storm chances this afternoon. Highs will range in the low 90s, with overnight lows in the low and mid 70s. Stay safe tomorrow afternoon, as a few storms could be strong to severe as the day heats up. Pre-recorded for 5pm show
