A frigid start across East Tennessee, with many at 8 am in the low 20s to near 30 degrees. To make it worse, even colder temperatures are planned tonight into Thursday morning, so be ready to bundle back up once more! The good news is plenty of sunshine is forecast today through the early weekend, with highs trending warmer each day as well. Today will be our coolest, with highs in the mid and upper 40s, followed by 50s tomorrow, 60s Friday & Saturday, and even some 70s on Sunday. Speaking of that warmer air, the graphic below depicts average highs to those of which the model thinks we could see. As highlighted above, a big warm up is in store the next few days, thanks to high pressure settling east of the area. Today will be much below average, but we'll veer 5 to 8 degrees above average by Saturday....Usual Tennessee weather, am I right? Take advantage of the sunshine and warming temperatures. After Thursday, it should be nice and mild. Our next chance of rainfall arrives early next week, where we could see a decent shot of precipitation amounts. Let's hope it pans out, as we are running well below average for soil moisture/precipitation and the results are moderate and severe drought state-wide. Check out our video forecast below for more information. Pre-recorded for 5pm weather broadcast
