A big day ahead, with a high shot at severe weather across the Ohio Valley. Here locally, we are in that "in-between" zone, where timing will be everything. As of now, we are on the tail-end of severe chances, but definitely not out of the woods. A line of storms will develop into this afternoon, working east out of Middle Tennessee. Depending on the speed/timing of these, we could see the line weakening (a later arrival) or maintain its strength (earlier into the evening or afternoon). We are under an Enhanced Risk of severe storms, with a chance at all hazards (damaging winds, large hail, a few tornadoes). PLEASE be weather aware today, know where to go if warnings are issued, and have a way to receive several alerts. Damaging winds (upwards of 70 mph) will be the primary threat, but tornadoes are also a consideration. Furthermore, portions of the area have been included in a "hatched" outlook for tornadoes- meaning a significant tornado or two can't be ruled out. Significant can be defined as a strong (EF-2) or greater tornado, and one that could be long-tracked. In addition to severe potential, we also face flash flooding concerns. With rounds of rain prior to the line, and then the main line itself, we could see isolated to scattered flash flooding. Keep all hazards in mind when planning for weather safety today. Importantly, the timing. We are thinking more between the 7pm to midnight timeframe. This can be bumped a little quicker for the plateau, where 5-10m is more likely. Stay weather aware, have a way to receive alerts, and pass along any damaging (when it is safe to do so) via our email or social media. These reports help the National Weather Service, us, and others. Pre-recorded for 5pm weather broadcast
