After a below normal end to July for precipitation, areas of dry conditions have developed. For now, things are localized to the northeast with only a small area of Moderate Drought recorded. With minimal rainfall expected over the next week, we could see growing drought conditions state-wide. As for weather conditions today and ahead, very summer-like. Afternoon pop up showers and thunderstorms will be the main story over the next several days with temperatures increasing towards the weekend. For now, things stay fair in the mid 80s with showers/storms mainly during the afternoon and early evening. Activity will fade with the onset of nightfall each day. Showers will likely be best tomorrow, but still fairly limited to the higher elevations. Don't forget the umbrellas just in case, as showers will vary in coverage across East Tennessee each afternoon. Don't forget to check out our daily video forecast below! Pre-recorded for 5pm show
