Another pleasant start and day in the works. This view is over the Newfound Gap area of the Smokies (9 am). As we work through the day, mostly sunny skies can again be expected. Highs will be a touch warmer, topping out in the mid 80s to near 90 degrees. With ridging remaining in place, dry conditions will continue through at least tomorrow. A low sitting off the east coast will retrograde, bringing the return of isolated and scattered showers Friday and this weekend. This will combine with a sweeping cold front, which will bring the best opportunity for rainfall Sunday and Sunday night. Overall though, the next 7 days will be relatively dry. The Weather Prediction Center suggests rainfall totals through next Wednesday of around half an inch. The bulk of this will come this weekend, where showers will be relatively scattered in nature. A few thunderstorms will also be possible, mainly during the afternoon and evening. That will do it for today, enjoy another beautiful day filled with sunshine and warm temperatures!
